Leila Bassir - The Laughing Linnet

Children's Book Illustrator and Wildlife Artist

Art services and commissions

Who am I and what do I do?

I am a children’s book illustrator and author, specialising in digital, wildlife and nature inspired art work and illustrations. I love drawing animals, birds and bugs; trees, flowers and grass; stand alone images or whole scene illustrations.

My illustration style

I tend to work to one particular style, as you can probably see from the images dotted across my website, which is, clean, colourful, simple and child-friendly. All my pieces must pass the critical eye of my Little Explorer prior to approval. If she does not show any interest or excitement, I draw a ong sigh and head back to the drawing board.

The services I offer, include...

  • Children’s book illustration
  • Wildlife Art
  • Pet portraits

About my Work

I love working with children, reading to children, writing children’s books, and of course, illustrating for children. It allows me to stretch my imagination, have fun and to be bold, vibrant and colourful. I also love nature, the outdoors and wildlife, and sharing these passions with little ones. So, my work tends to reflect this.

I also understand the importance of good illustrations in enticing and engaging children to keeping reading, enjoying and developing their passion for books. Therefore all my illustrations are road tested past a panel of children before being given the tick of acceptance. If they love them, I breathe a sigh of relief. If they are not overly fussed, it is back to the drawing board!
