Tree buds nature walk scavenger hunt

In the late winter and spring, the trees may look bare, but life is stirring inside and the buds are already growing and swelling – and they are a great way to identify trees before the leaves and flowers appear. So, in this spotter, I have included 10 of our most commonly found tree buds to help you identify them. These include:

  • Alder
  • Ash
  • Beech
  • Elder
  • Hazel
  • Hornbeam
  • Oak
  • Rowan
  • Sycamore
  • Willow
This scavenger hunt can be used in printed form, to take out with you as a handy and easily portable field guide, or it can be downloaded and used as a digital resource. But, please remember, this resource is for personal use only and may not be re-sold or distributed in any means, either physical or digital. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
